I'm looking at a Cub.
The owner says the serial no. is 194897J.
What does the J mean ?

“J” was the symbol indicating that it was built with a Rockford clutch installed, it’s the most common.

10.000 danish kroner = 1.440 US$. Not that expensive in this part of the world.
Has been staying untouched indoor for years. Engine is turnable.
Lots of other parts. Looks like someone has given up his/her Cub hobby.

Hi,
You probably already found the serial number you wrote is a 1956.
Below is a page from the Cub parts manual telling about the suffix letter codes. :)

Complete tractor, mounted mower/finger mower. Unrestored, has stood still for a number of years, the engine can be run around. A pulley and many extra parts are included: Front axles, rear bodies, gearboxes, 2 engines, petrol tanks, wheels, petrol tanks, steering wheel, seats, air filter, screens, radiators, dynamos, starters, magnets, lifting parts, drawbar, etc. THICK binder with original sales brochures, user manuals, spare parts catalogues, etc. It is all sold together.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.
