Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
My friend has a "new" '68 LoBoy that we just got running! It has a Woods 42 mounted under it, but the Mule Drive is quite a mess. I don't know if it was working, since we pulled it off to work on the clutch adjustment.
I've asked the owner to take some more photos, including the data tag, which should help ID the model mower & whether it is for an F Cub or LoBoy. I suspect it's for the regular F Cub, but the photos I have are limited.
So, some questions:
1. Can anyone identify the model Woods 42C-?? mower?
2. Is the mule drive here for a LoBoy? Has it been modified for the fast hitch? I know there are FH "drop-down" plates for fast hitch tractors)
3. Can someone post detailed photos of a Woods 42 mounted under a LoBoy with a fast hitch?
Sorry, I'm using my phone, so unable to crop & zoom in on the mower! That disgusting oil pickup screen has been cleaned (along with pan, engine block, etc) and engine runs!! Just zoom your eyes onto the mower mounting arms. They appear to be for a regular cub...?

Looks like the mower is for a regular cub and been forced to go on a loboy

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
Dale, mine is a Bush Hog 412 (as you know probably). I used a pto mounted mule drive with the idlers mounted on the lower side (Pennington) and made a couple of brackets to connect to the mower push arms/angle. These were bolt attached to the final drives and none of it is affected by the FH. A PO had already clipped the front corners of the mower deck for clearance for the front wheels. Stan

That's CERTAINLY a much tidier mounting job!! Yeah, this is a bit of a mess...too bad we never tried it, but my sense of "right" has a real hard time looking at how this is rigged!!

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
I have 68 lo-Boy too, Mine has a Danco C-3 on it since new. A friend has an older Lo-Boy with a Danco C-2 on it which is about the same size as your deck. I picked up a 42 in Woods last summer too and plan to cut the arms off the deck and redo it with angle iron like Danco did it on the C-2. I also have a Danco mule drive for my Cub. That way I can use both mowers on either tractor. I only mention this because in my area the Danco mule drives for Lo-Boys are common as lots of people had them set up for mowing I've seen lots of woods deck on Cubs but not on Lo-Boys. TJ

Whoever is taking the pics should back up a bit so we can see the whole rear of the tractor and can view the mule drive from tire to tire.

My Lo-Boy has a Woods 42. "Straight arm" Woods 42 mowers fit a lo-boy and "raised arm" 42's are for a standard Cub.

I'm the guilty photo party! And you're absolutely right. Next time I'm out at the owner's place I'll take better photos for context!

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
Comparing Greenthumbsfarms photos to Dale's photos posted above show that the mower deck has the "raised arms" so maybe it is for a std cub as tmays suggested. The top half of the mule drive attached to the pto looks similar also. JMHO

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
Agree, Stan. Looks like it's missing the lower part of the idler pulley assembly, thus the cobbled use of the standard mule drive.
If he wants to mow with his tractors (one regular & one LoBoy) he may have to get a "REAL" LoBoy mower and use this one one his other tractor. Could be time to post a wanted ad!

Yep, that’s how I tell them apart. Don’t know anything about loboy mule drives, however. But doubtful I’ll ever need to know

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
That would be great...but there's no rush! Just got the tractor running and driving for the first time in many years. Great compression, but running a bit rough. Also looks like a brake replacement is needed. Won't need to use the mower until spring...but need to decide if it'll be with this mower or a "real" LoBoy mower.

Re: Woods 42 mounted on a LoBoy? Photos needed!
GreenThumb, I have never seen a woods 42 like that I may just modify my standard arms to lay down like that and modify the rear of the arms to hook up to the Danco mule drives on my tractors, you just saved me a lot of time in the shop.
