Rear Rims

Postby Bill B » Fri Jan 20, 2006 9:32 pm

I bought another cub today, and it is a nice original cub, but the rear rims are rusted bad from leaking calcium chloride. Does anybody know where I can get rims? I tried TM parts, Tucker's tires, OEM, and no luck. I would prefer used rims.

They also occasionally show up on eBay, but like most things are never nearby.

just a side note here about them rims,

mine be powder coated inside and out, front and back. rust isnt going to ruin a rim (investment) of mine.

the guy i bought all the pieces of "basket case"(the tractor) from had it done, dont know where, but i like the idea a lot, and will do same on next project tractor.

Thanks for all the tips. JP has them for a good price. I like the tip about powdercoating.

Rims

I got two from Miller Tire and they're beauties. Only difference between them and the 1952's is they use carriage bolts instead of the old square-headed ones.

Should we be saving the lugs off junk rims to put on new plain rims? Of course they can only be used on the same width rims as they came off of.

I'd say so, Jim. When I first got my Cub, I went to the local Case-IH dealer, and he told me he could no longer get them.....I was able to find some at a local tractor boneyard........
