It started as a clutch adjustment...

Postby Greenthumbfarms » Tue Jun 15, 2021 12:07 am

At the bash, we noticed my clutch was way out of adjustment. Yesterday I had a free afternoon, and decided to check it out.

Climbed underneath and the fingers were WAY out of adjustment. Had maybe 3/4 inch between them and pressure plate, not the correct 1-1/4 inch. Went to work adjusting, and on the second finger, wouldn't you know I goofed and let the finger in instead of out. I realized my error when I heard a familiar "boing" as the return spring slipped off its retainer.

If course I couldn't get it back on through the hand hole, so after work today I split the tractor to do it right, and adjust the last finger while I had easy access.

Georgette rolled right apart! Not too bad for working alone today

All tightened up!

The tractor is back together, and hydraulic lines, wiring harness, and starter are back on. I figured it was time to call it a night (11:45 pm) and finish assembly tomorrow.

On the bright side, the TOB looked like it was in real nice shape

Andy, are you not going to get suckered into doing just a few more little things "while the hood is off"?...

At least I decided not to change the Governor spring on this one! I don't think I'm ambitious enough to split the front half by myself...
