valve guide question
I'm replacing valves in my 49' and not sure best way to remove old guides. working from top as i still have crank and cam in place, first time doing this and don't want to break anything, Thanks!

Below is the Cub service manual, if you don't have it. It has lots of info.
There is contents beginning on page 1 of most sections.
I would read section 1, the engine section, since you are working on the engine.
The valve guide info is on pages 1-20 and 1-21, it shows.

Page 1-7 in the manual gives specifications for the valve stem clearance in the guides.
Sometimes the valve guides are not worn much, you don't need to replace them if they are still good.
I would measure the clearance and see if the guides are still good.
They have said on here before that after putting in new valve guides, the holes in them need checking and reaming if too small.
I remember someone on here was having trouble after a rebuild, one valve would stick when the engine warmed up, the hole in the guide was evidently too small.
There are some posts near the bottom of this page, at Similar Topics, if they show on your computer or phone, that might help you.
