Fan Hub Leak
I have a 48' Cub and noticed that all the oil was gone out of my fan hub. I added more and realized that it is leaking out of the center of the end closest to the motor. I am wondering what is the usual way of fixing before I take apart. Could I put a new bearing into it or might I be able to fix it by replacing the seals? Thanks

Could just need this. http://www.tmtractor.com/new/co/755fp.htm
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Re: Fan Hub Leak
There is a short stand pipe attached to the fill hole. After you added oil, did you turn the fan so the hole faced down and excess could drain out?

Re: Fan Hub Leak
Hi,
The fan hub has no oil seal at the rear of the shaft.
When the oil is at the right level, it usually stays in the hub.
The fan doesn't have regular bearings.
Below is a page from the 1949 Cub owner's manual, telling how to oil the fan hub.
The fan hub uses motor oil.
I use a pump oil can, filled with clean oil to oil the fan hub.

There is a small rubber seal on the filler screw, be careful and don't lose it when removing the screw.
Sometimes it comes out on the screw, and sometimes it is stuck on the hub.
If it is stuck on the hub, just thread the screw through it.
You can give the hub a partial oil change by after filling the hub until oil runs out the filler hole, before turning the hole down to drain out the excess oil, put the filler screw in, and turn the engine over 20 times or so, then remove the screw, and turn the hole down, and drain out the excess oil.
Some oil might run out the rear of the fan hub before draining the excess oil out.
