Block shot?

Postby Condre' » Mon Sep 14, 2020 7:10 pm

Removed the head off my cub intending to replace rings and valves. I discovered that the surface of head between the valve areas for three cylinders was eroded away and it appears that no seal is being formed between the head and the block. No problem? Block shot? Some believe that the block could be resurfaced. Opinions?

Pictures would help? The block could possibly be decked to save it or welded then decked. Hard to tell how bad the damage is without pictures ?

if you were rebuilding anyway, might be cheaper for a good used block than repair

I welded a Jeep 134f block on the center bolt hole had a crack the ran across the threaded hole using castiron rod. Then I decked the block. Wasn’t mine but I wanted the experience.

Most just have the head and block machined (decked) and returned to flat.
