Fast Hitch Questions

Postby gjm » Sat Jun 27, 2020 7:55 pm

Hello, I just purchased the fast hitch as shown in the two attached pictures. Can someone identify (name, part number or pic) the parts that are missing?
I would like to to complete the hitch and restore it. Also the locking mechanism where the 1 point goes is gone. Does anybody have pictures on how this works. Any help would be appreciated Thank you, gjm

The FH components are listed in the manuals section, Parts Manual TC 37F. Your pics look like the later style with crank adjustment.

I have a spare rockshaft assy, I don't see it in your pics. Also don't see the crank depth adjustment.

Hi,
Below is the Cub parts manual.
The Fast Hitch is in section 9, pages 4 - 8.
You don't use the depth adjustment lever on page 9, if you need the crank.
The lever was used on Cub Fast Hitches from 1954 - about mid 1957. The crank was used after that.

http://www.farmallcub.info/galleries/ci ... _Rev_3.asp

Below are pages from the 1955 Cub operator's manual, showing the lift rod, and it's shape, on the left side of the 1st pic. The hitch has the lever to the right of the seat, yours needs the crank.

http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... e%2018.jpg

http://farmallcub.com/rudi_cub/www.clea ... e%2019.jpg

The bail has a different bracket at the right front of it, for the lever or the crank.
It has to be used with the adjuster it was made for. :)

Stan, it looks like the rockshaft is there, and assembled, in his pic.

These could still be on the tractor the hitch came off.

The helper spring assembly requires the later style front rockshaft with 2 tabs, one for the lift rod and one for the helper spring. On the other end of the helper spring it goes through the rod guide that is bolted to the transmission housing and fender(using the reinforcement backer).

Am I mistaken, or isn't there another fast hitch in the truck? Is that yours, too? Is it the early or later style?

Good catch Dale. I looked again and the bail and rockshaft are visable.
Glen, my mistake. I was thinking about the rockshaft for a LoBoy. The attached pict is a later style with the lift rod, helper spring assy and crank adjuster:

It’s hard to tell what’s in that jumble of stuff with the Fast Hitch disk. But, the red Fast Hitch looks less complete than the yellow one. Lots of expensive pieces parts to find and purchase. Depending on what you paid for what you have, you may be money ahead to find a complete Fast Hitch. You don’t say what type of Cub you plan to put this on. But, neither of the assemblies in the truck are compatible with an offset LoBoy. Only the standard Cub.

Gentlemen,

Thank you again for your replies. I plan to use this hitch (assuming I can make it complete)
on a later model international cub. Yes there is another partial early fast hitch (red in color)
in the truck that is less complete. I purchased the disk and plow from a gentlemen, and he
gave me these partial hitch assemblies for a a few dollars more. Sounds Like I need to find the
later style depth control, locking assembly for the 1 point, and rock shaft assembly. Please let me
if anybody knows where I could find these parts, and/or a complete hitch if it makes more sense.

Thank you

Hi,
You don't need to find a rockshaft, it is there on your hitch, it is the round bar, the ends of it are in the top holes of the brackets that bolt onto the final drives.
You need a lift rod, like in the 1st page from the operator's manual I posted above. :)
