My bad! Will a 3/8 bit leave it too large to retap? 5/16” bit?

I had a rust-frozen drain plug on my '47 and learned from the forum about welding on a nut to remove it. The heat from the mig welder released it. Ordered a replacement from TM. Worked like a charm.
