What is the difference between a 38a and a 38l lift disc?

There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Hi,
Below is the operator's manual for the Cub L 38 Disc, if you need it. It has lots of info.
There is also one of them for use with the regular drawbar, shown on pages 4, and 9.
Your info says you have a 1953 Cub, so you probably have a drawbar.

The 28A Disc is also for a regular drawbar, below is the operator's manual for it.

Below are pics of it from TM Tractor. :)

I found a 38L for sale and wanted to make sure that it would work on a F cub and not specific for a lowboy.

Rusty red,
IH didn't do us any favors by using the "38" model number for the Fast Hitch Regular Cub, Fast Hitch LoBoy, and Non-Fast Hitch Regular Cub "Lift Type" versions. The first link that Glen provided shows the three different versions and then has the caption "The instructions contained in this manual also cover the Cub-F38, Cub-38, Cub-38A, L-38, Cub-138, and 1-F38 Single-Cut Disk Harrows."
Reading back through your posts, you don't have a Fast Hitch, so you would be looking for the Lift Type version. You'll want to make sure it comes with all the connecting parts, so you'll want to look at the Implement Parts Catalog.

Hope it works out for you.
Peter
