Hammer Mill For Cub Value

Postby ctltmp » Sat Mar 14, 2020 10:38 pm

I've been looking for a hammer mill for the 49 and this one popped up. First one I've seen nearby. Any opinions on the value? They have an electric motor hooked up to it right now. I assume I'll need some additional stuff to make it work. I don't have a belt pulley for it.

:thanx:

I have no idea what they are worth but if you think it’s a decent buy then you better buy it. Don’t see them for sale often.

They used to go for about $700 but things have changed last couple years in values. Prices have gone down for the most part

Don't know the value.

Years back I was part of a Cub Express transporting one to Paris, Illinois. Perhaps someone knows the buyer and the price at that time.
I have an excuse. CRS.

I also Cub Expressed one to the Bash last year for Frank in Nebraska. Maybe you can contact him? The seller had a 2nd one, too. He was somewhere in Virginia.

For the price the seller is asking, it won't last long. If I was closer I'd buy it.

Thanks guys. I'm gonna try to get ahold of it. I know some of you guys run them as demonstrations. That's my plan as well. Grand kids will probably get a kick out of it too.

Does that hammer mill run off a pto shaft or off a pulley and belt ?If it is belt driver what size belt pulley on the tractor and does the belt have a twist in it ? Just curious.

Looks like it's worth $120.00, plus any premiums and taxs

I talked to the guy. Seems someone had it hooked up to an electric motor and was using it as a paper shredder!

Jimcub48, it runs off a right angle drive with a flat belt off the PTO.

They're very hard to find, but not as rare as toilet paper.

I bought one last year and paid $400 for it. Mine needs the pipe that supports the top section and looks similar in condition.

If that is indeed $120 that is a bargain. NOT trying to get it from under you where is it? Just wondered how someone got the price of $120. is that a facebook thing?
At a glance it looks to be in real good condition. Now finding a pulley for it might be rather hard to do, the mill not the tractor. If you can get one a 9" pulley on the tractor works good. a 4" or 5" wide belt, longer is better. HAVE to stake mill down. If people are watching it about impossible to get the belt lined up.  Now other parts that can be missing, sometimes the screen is taken out and no screen, or sometimes extra screens are with it. Off top of my head there are 14ish screens, Dad almost has all of them. Extra screen for sale are almost non existent. I have seen the feed gate missing, for some reason seen one with about half the hammers missing, There are some fingers behind the feed gate, and a bent plate behind the feed gate to hols those fingers back for grinding small grains, you take the plate out and lift the feed gate all the way up for grinding ear corn. That bent plate and even the fingers are often missing.
My two cents,
Russel Foster
