I wired a lighter socket up to provide power when the kill switch is pulled out to run position. The flashing amber light has a lighter plug with a switch in it and the light has a magnetic base. I stick it to the front of the hood but if you do this you may want to put tape on the side that faces you so it doesn’t blind you.
I’d rather be a little blinded than not seen by passing cars.

Also keep the bright and tight mantra in your mind. Lots of connections that 6V has to go through. Might want to take a bulb and touch one terminal to one battery post and a wire to the other post, making a simple circuit. Is the light a lot brighter? Then it's definitely time for the bright and tight on every connection on both the hot and ground sides.

Maybe one of these would be a way to have a flashing light that isn't in your eyes.

The fit might be a little snug.

Mainely Saws wrote:Hello folks ,
I have a 1952 cub that has a 6 volt system and I want to keep it that way BUT I plow snow with it and sometimes it's dark when I am clearing my driveway or one of my neighbors ( it's dark at 5:00 pm up this way ).The 6v cub lights aren't very bright ,so tell me if this sounds foolish . I have a spare 12 volt battery with life in it and seeing as I can use a bit more weight on the back ( I have wheel weights and chains ) I am thinking of temporarily mounting the battery on the drawbar , running two wires forward through a switch and installing something like these on the front of the cub.............

https://www.amazon.com/Nilight-3000LM-D ... 97PYWV0Q5M

These LEDS draw 27 watts and are only $15.99 for the pair . I back my cub into the garage when I am done using it and there is an outlet within 3ft of the back of the cub . I could easily put a charge on the battery . If I could get an hour or two of decent light out of the LEDS I would be happy . I would appreciate any thoughts .

Thanks,
Bob
I have a set of the very same lights on a '64 ( 12 volt one wire ) , they have worked better than i expected and VERY bright . i accidentally left them on one evening , they were still shining bright the next morning . coppersmythe......................

2 ‘D’ cell batteries in the flashing light, several choices for flashing frequency.

Milwaukee 18V light with magnetic base and adjustable.

What a great bunch of folks ! A lot of good info . I have ordered the Led lights and wiring harness with the cigarette socket . I haven't fully decided just yet if I want to ad a switch or just plug in the lights when needed. It was good to hear from Coppersmythe that his led lights were still shining brightly after accidentally being left on overnight . Now to find a simple flashing yellow light ........

Hi Mainely Saw,
I've had this light for 4 years and no problems.

https://www.amazon.com/Blazer-C43A-Magn ... 573&sr=8-1

It gets taken off the tractor when winter is past and just sits around until next year's snow comes. You can place it anywhere you like, pick a few options on the light flashing.

Dick - that's the one I have. Bought it 5 years ago. Works great. I take out the batteries after each use.

I used these lights and installed them in an original headlight housing. By cutting off the mount and just a little grinding on the fins they fit perfectly behind the original headlight lens. Going to use them on a 68 cub that I'm slowly rebuilding.

I just got these for christmas. Magnetic mount was important to me. Round one facing rear of tractor, rectangle one facing forward.
I have a cigarette lighter outlet on my tractor wired through a fuse & switch on the dash. These light up the whole driveway.
