Splitting stand thread ???

Postby Clubless » Thu Jan 09, 2020 12:12 pm

Looking for thread that uses trailer jack to build rolling splitting stand. I looked in “how to” section but didn’t find it.

Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks,
Gary

Check out this thread. viewtopic.php?f=144&t=22132&p=163945&hilit=splitting#p163945

I am currently working on finding the lost pix.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Yes Barnyard that’s the one I was looking for. I appreciate you finding it for me.

Thinking I want to try my hand at splitting cub for potential clutch or transmission repair. Never done it.

Thanks

My stand goes farther back on the next set of holes in the drive shaft tube much closer to the centerline of the tractor. I used a steel angle as a cross beam to two trailer jacks. My cross beam is as wide as the rear tires are for stability. My next plan was to use the square hole in the bolster for a tripod setup using three trailer jacks.
I'm technically misunderstood at times i guess its been this way my whole life so why should it change now.

BigBill,
Do you have some pictures of your splitting stand?

Thanks,
Gary

Here is mine. I used 6" wide stock and added an extra hole so it could be attached to either side. I also drilled two holes so I could store the attaching bolts so they didn't get lost.

Ooo, I like those threaded "storage" holes!! Great idea, Bill.

One thing I will add, make sure the holes are not in a position to keep you from getting to both bolts with a ratchet...one of mine was just a tad too close to the jack, and I have to use a combo wrench to install it...a real PITA!!
