Starting a cub without battery and a starter installed ?
Is it possable to start a cub without a battery and or the starter on the tractor? The starter on mine was stolen along with the carb, rear light, drawbar, and starter pull on/off switch , just figured I'd ask x im nee to this cub and im starting from scratch

If it has a magneto, yes.

Only if you have the carburetor, primed the oil pump, and the magneto is still working.Rodney51Cub wrote:If it has a magneto, yes.
Magneto test. Spark plug grounded to engine block. Crank engine over 10 or 12 complete revolutions observing for spark.
Got spark, conduct a compression test. Need some compression on all cylinders for the engine to start.

Ok , thanks for the replys i will tinker with it tomorrow afternoon , right before i bought this cub , the guy i bought it from showed it to a few people , but they did not buy it , but by the time i got there and bought it , someone came and stole the carb, starter, drawbar, rear light and bracket, battery , tool box, and the starter on/off switch , it was sitting in a barn on a empty property a few miles from his house
