Rebuilt starter with bolt instead of copper stud

This extra starter was rebuilt sometime in the past. Instead of the copper stud coming out of the housing that the starter button contacts, it just has a double nutted bolt which is too long for the starter button housing to fit over and of course is not copper. Is there an alternate design starter button that will work in this case? I'm hoping it doesn't have to go back to an electrical shop.....

Can’t answer your question, but you could mount a push button to connect to it. Any reason you can’t go back with a copper stud?

The cable gauge concerns me with other switch styles and I didn't want it to have to pay for a repair if there was an easy alternative.

Was it meant to have the later solenoid attached with key or push button start, rather than a pull rod?

But you would need to add the strip of metal like in the previous post...or maybe just a wire...mine had the metal strip.

The starter was probably an aftermarket replacement, they were sold that way, you can hook up a solenoid or use the push style button on the square nose cubs

It's 6 volt and has the two holes. I'll go check the part # on the starter.

When I google part # 1109611 2L19 it looks like the starter should have the button starter and not the solenoid.

probably the rebuilder replaced the field coil setup with that style, maybe he had one on the shelf he wanted to use

WOW, I love this, does anyone know if this could be retrofitted onto the older style, can the copper button be replaced with a bolt and this used??? I'd rather the key ignition on cub and SA rather than the pull rods... I could then set it up so its harder for ppl to steal these tractors then...

The last cub that was brought home has a stud on the starter and the battery cables need to be replaced. In my stash of parts was a later 12 volt dash with the started button so purchased two 12 volt cables from TM. Had to remove the dash because wiring was messed up. So the 6 volt system will be converted to 12 volts with an alternator.

If I'm not mistaken, the bolt/stud would need to be soldered on, requiring disassembly. Also, you would need to drill and tap the housing for the 2 screws holding down the solenoid...they would not be the same as the ones holding the original switch for the copper stud.
