First Photo Gallery Contest

Postby lildog » Mon Nov 28, 2005 6:47 pm

OK, guys, I'm in the holiday mood so I thought we'd do our first photo gallery contest.

I've created a new album in the photo gallery called Christmas Cubs. Let's see who has the best-dressed cub for the holidays. I know Bigdog can't be the only one who decks his cub with boughs of holly. So get out, throw some lights and garland on her (the tractor, not your wife), snap a quick pic and post it.

I'll give one prize in each of two categories: Best-dressed cub and best photograph (technically). I'll select finalists from ratings on the photo gallery, then post them here for the final vote. You'll pick the winners!. The prizes will be selections from Dennis' fine FarmallCub.com Store:
Let's give everyone a while to get their creations ready. How about December 7 as a deadline for photos, then give everyone through the weekend (to the 11th) to rate them. Then the finalists will be posted for votes from the 12th to the 14th and the winner announced December 15. So, come on guys and gals. Let's see your creative sides and your holiday spirit.

Visit the photo gallery...

It's been pointed out that there was a configuration error that may have kept some of you from adding your Christmas Cub photos to the album. That problem has been fixed, so let's see your Christmas Cubs!

Due to that, I'll extend the entry deadline to Monday, December 12, so you have the weekend to get out, decorate that cub and get those pics. No excuses!

I've decided to offer some choice in prizes:

As long as there are no objections, I think I will cancel this contest on the grounds of poor participation. We'll try something again in the spring - I'm open to suggestions.

I agree, Rudi. It's just that the whole nepotism thing sent me into a morality spiral and rather than to try to make an ethical choice, I chose to do nothing. If there were more entrants, I wouldn't have had the dillemma.

I thought maybe what we'd do for future photo gallery contests would be to focus on different tasks that can be performed with a cub. For instance, in January or February, we could do "Snow Plowing" as a theme. Then, as spring kicks in, we could do planting, etc.

Anyway, I've got some ideas.
