International lo boy model year
Hey guys brand new to the forum! I just bought a house and made sure I got the cub included in the deal. It’s my first cub. It’s an International cub lo boy pre numbered series. The serial number plate is missing. It’s painted red so I thought it was a 50’s series but upon further inspection it looks like it was originally yellow which puts it into the 60’s I believe? Any way to narrow it down without the serial number? Thanks!

Re: International lo boy model year
Welcome to the forum. You can use casting dates on the various structures on your tractor to roughly date it. See this http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_004.htm
Just keep in mind that some cast items on your tractor may have been replaced with ones off of a different model year. So look for any outliers that fall well outside the range of most of your casting dates. It is also possible that you have a 'frankentractor' constructed using parts from several donor tractors. Your casting dates may help tell the tale.

You can also look at the engine sn number http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_003.htm and than use the member database
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87029 to try to narrow it down. If the engine was not replaced this and the casting dates will give you a very good idea of the SN range for the tractor.
The cub tractors are not numbers matching like a car. The engines were used in other applications.

When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

Re: International lo boy model year
Hi,
Below is info from TM Tractor showing where the casting codes are, these are on a regular Cub, the LoBoy final drives are different.
The code on the clutch housing is usually partly behind the clutch pedal.
http://www.tmtractor.com/id/castdate_loc.htm
Below is a pic from TM Tractor of a LoBoy final drive, it looks like there is a casting code on the right, near the implement attaching holes.

Thanks for all the info! I’m gonna check that all out when I get home tomorrow. I’m already telling my wife I need a standard cub too.

If she doesn't buy that then feel free to have her call me for verification. I will attest to that.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

They get lonely and need bother and sisters.
It is a fact that bigger cub families do better than single cub ones. Google it. It is true.

Siblings are fine, but if they aren't, don't let them get too close to each other...these guys seem to multiply like rabbits!!!
