F-Cub #521

Postby Mattp793 » Tue Jul 16, 2019 9:07 pm

Hey guys,

I am the owner of a 1947 farmall cub that is S/N 521. This would make it the 20th to ever roll off the cub assembly line right?
I am located in Rochester, NY. My Grandfather pulled this tractor from someone in Geneva NY's over grown yard and did a little bit of restoration. I have heard tell that this tractor was a dealer sample that was displayed at the Ontario County fair way back when. It has no attachments except the rear tow bar. I have been looking for posts about other low numbered cubs but cant seem to find any. Wondering if anyone out there has anything close to or lower out there?

That is the 21st off the line.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

There is a member database of cubs viewtopic.php?f=1&t=87029

It does not give member names but it may give you an idea of identified survivors. There are only 2 lower than yours 501 and 512.

Check the engine serial number http://www.tmtractor.com/id/id_003.htm. The low sn number cub the engine and tractor numbers matched at the factory. laters in 1947 IH started using and sold the engine for other applications and the numbers diverged.

Your grandfather had a great eye!

Hi,
The Cub looks really good in the pics.
Below is the 1947 Cub owner's manual, if you don't have it. The experts on here recommend reading it. It has lots of info about operation, maintenance, and lubrication. It has pics of how the Cubs originally looked. There is a table of contents on page 1. :)

Very neat. I don't have a picture of it on my phone here. But I have #535 I can't remember it off hand but the mag is also a very low s.n. as well.
