Meant to say, looks to me as though all mechanical parts are same as US Cubs.

Electrickery is French but normal coils OK, looks as though yours might have a 6V dynamo, mine was already converted to 12V with a Citroen car alternator, 12V coil and 12V battery, still got 6V starter.

Just had Solex carb in bits, four screws and it's apart, plenty of carb cleaner £3.75 for an aerosol and it's as good as new, US carbs seem to have a long pilot valve you've got to be careful with but the Solex not troubled by that.

Major difference between US and French cubs seems to be seat design / arrangement, and on 'ours' a foot throttle (not on US models).

The US models can have a foot throttle but the configuration is different. Where the French Cub’s throttle comes through the floor pan, the US model comes in front of the floor pan between the brake pedals.

That must be a lot easier Frank. I'm 6' with a bad right leg and the foot throttle is badly placed.

I hear you. I’m 6’4” and Cubs tend to be pretty tight for me. Especially trying to get my left knee under the steering post.

Thanks again for all your assistance so far.

New video uploaded here: https://youtu.be/cKeu17XQ_tI

Video summary:
Front wheels are now on. I have sat the hood in place. It looks like a tractor again.
Transmission issues.
Said I would look at the gears situation before continuing with engine and ignition troubleshooting.
Loads of water in the transmission. Cogs were stuck in place. Managed to free them but tractor is still stuck in gear.
Removed PTO cover, Loads of grime, needs to be cleaned out.

Questions:
I cannot seem to get to it out of reverse gear. Any suggestions?
Should I pull it with another tractor to see if that frees it?
How will I clean out the transmission?
Should I use tractor diesel in pressurized paint sprayer and spray downs
trans and leaving it sitting for a day or two before emptying
perhaps?

Regards,
Liam

Clean out the transmission. I would probably use diesel fuel in a spray bottle.

After transmission clean, use gently, a pry bar to move the offending gears.
Should I pull it with another tractor to see if that frees it?
No. Might further damage the transmission.
I have an excuse. CRS.

From your second video, it does not look to me like it is stuck in gear. You may have a lot of debris in the bottom of the transmission that is keeping the lower shaft from moving more than a small amount. I suggest doing a complete cleaning out of the whole transmission case. Be careful to clean out the bearings. Then check for problems rotating each shaft. Attempting to rotate anything before a cleaning will do more damage.

As you are cleaning out the housing, check that the two holes for oiling the front and rear bearings are open. There are channels running along the top edges of the housing, where gear oil is slung up, then follows the channels for and aft, and drops onto the bearings.

I've been away from working on the Cub for far to long.
Today I started back at it. You may find this a boring video and I don't really know what I am talking about but here it is. It's a learning experience for me.

That was enjoyable.
Part of working on equipment is intuitive once the bits and pieces and their purpose is understood. Specifications of size and tolerance , when what does what in relation to that, And you're halfway there! L.o.l..

Congrats on the Cub.

Well done on the industrious "girls" providing fresh sassy eggs.

Hi,
You said above that you thought it is stuck in reverse.
Your video you posted on Aug 4, 2019 shows both shifter forks in neutral.
I don't see how it would be stuck in reverse. :)

Thanks the eggs were delicious.

@glen I'm not sure what is stuck to be honest. Hopefully disassembling it will identify the issue. Hope it all goes back together too.

Take lots of photos as you disassemble things. They will be invaluable when you are trying to put it back together!! Good luck!

Uploaded a new video of the disassemble stage.

https://youtu.be/WFrQtM7d-CM

Transmission is now seperated from the rest of the tractor.

I read the forums here on removing the floor pan and heating up the pedal didn't help the situation so my brother suggested drilling through the spot welds which in turn allowed the braket and main pan body to seperate. Then we were able to use a bearing puller to remove the ceased pedal.

Going to do more research before I tackle the Transmission. I think the first step for here is to give it a deisal bath prehaps and then when I get comfortable or brave enough disassemble and inspect. Hopefully find the issues and fix and get it all back together again. Fingers crossed.

Hi All,

Transmission is disassembled. No broken teeth on gears but i found the problem. Messed up roller bearing.

Part no: 350857R91 bearing,roller, cyl, 30mm id x 62.99mm OD x 16mm W Local Case dealer informed me: part number CHANGED TO 379475R91 @€150+VAT

That seems a bit pricey. Tried another local engineering shop that is the best around but they didn't have it or an alternative. :(

Image of busted Bearing:

Have you any advise on where I could get a cheaper alternative?

Regards,
Liam
