I Sure Could use a Loader Tractor

Postby T-Mo » Wed May 15, 2019 9:39 am

Here is where I could use a loader on one of my Cubs. I have a truck load of lime to move about 75 to 100 feet. But I got my manual bucket loader (shovel) and my trusty wheel barrow.... :)

When you get a loader on a tractor, you need muscle as well

Our kids thought it was *fun* helping move mulch

Unfortunately both my girls are adults now and I don't think they would view this as "fun". But, maybe my grandkids will. :D

Your shovel and wheelbarrow made me think of when I was in high school, I got out of school at lunch to work my junior and senior year. I worked at a large landscape nursery. We were taking a break one afternoon (about 9 of us) and the boss came in and ask "anybody ever ran a backhoe?" one guy jumped and said my grandpa had one I ran it a lot. He said come with me, went outside and he put him on a shovel and wheelbarrow

Yep, I was a combat engineer in the Army, and I remember a similar question being asked by a sergeant with similar results....that's why we don't volunteer for anything when you're in the military.

one time i had tractor problems and needed to move some dirt, so I strapped the scraper into the back of the gator and raised the bed to make it contact the ground, not great but i got the job done!

better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it...( YES this includes CUBS! )

Yep, that's what my son Erik (12B1P) was told at Fort Leonard Wood, aka Fort Lost in the Woods. Thing is, after he finished airborne school, his class was asked who really wanted to jump. He raised his hand with a few others and got assigned to the 57th Sapper Company. All the other Combat Engineers got assigned to units that were deployed to Iraq and/or Afghanistan doing road clearance. Erik spent 2 years jumping out of airplanes and helicopters until he was accepted into WOCS and is now learning to fly helicopters. So, in his case, it worked out well.

Pallet jack, shop crane, chain hoist on shed...nothing compares to having a FEL...especially when you get into the bigger implements and such. My wheelbarrow rotted and blew out about the time i bought the 504.

I also did my basic training and my AIT at Ft. Leonard Wood. It's also called "Little Korea" back in my day as most that were stationed there were either coming back from Korea or headed to Korea for their next assignment. I also was stationed at Ft. Wood twice, sandwiching a stint at Fulda, Germany, so I bucked the trend about Korea.

John brought his loader Cub over and I moved almost half the pile. It was sure handy and easier to have the loader than the old shovel and wheel barrow method.
