Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
I have my 1959 International Cub Lo-Boy torn apart for a new clutch replacement, and decided that I probably put a new exhaust system on it also. New muffler, exhaust pipe and manifold clamp. Where is a good place to buy all of this? This last one I bought from Orscheln made by Stanley. I tried getting on the Stanley exhaust web site, but it doesn't work correctly for me and I couldn't even find out if they have a listing for these parts anymore.

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
I walked in to a real muffler shop about five years ago with the old pipe...owner took one look and said. ‘Farmall cub’. He bent the new one out of 1-1/2 inch.
Last time I checked the pipe was $50 or so, now it’s pushing $200... I need one for the ‘63...

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
Well, I tried to order all the parts from TM Tractor, only to find out their $146.68 exhaust pipe is not available anymore. So, no sense in ordering anymore of the exhaust parts from them since the pipe is the main part I need. So, where can I get these parts? I can try my local Case/IH dealer I guess. Has anybody purchased exhaust system parts recently for a Cub Lo-Boy somewhere? Or should I just take it to a muffler shop and have something welded up for it? Maybe thats the only solution anymore?

Messick's website indicates that the pipe is available, but not in stock. A phone call would verify availability.

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
I just bought that pipe for a 1960 Lowboy from TM about 2 months ago. I think the discontinued pipe is for 1975 and later Cubs. Unless he discontinued the pipe for the older Lowboys recently and didn’t update it on the website.

You’re right. I was curious and added the pipe to my cart and it said it is unavailable.

Did you talk to, or email, someone at TM and received that information, or just tried online like lyle11?

Personally, I would give a site sponsor a little "benefit of the doubt" on their listings and verify that it is truly unavailable and not just a computer error, that they sold the last one in their stock and are waiting for new inventory to come in, or who knows what reason.

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
You have to call TM and Messicks. I have ordered online from Messicks to get a call 2-3 days later telling me the part is not available. Don at TM has a lot of parts that are not on the website. So when you are looking for something you have to call and not rely on the websites

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
So, nobody actually has purchased one recently and walked out of the store with it or had one delivered? I guess I will try the Case/IH dealer tomorrow morning then and if they don't have them or can get them I will see if a local shop can fabricate a pipe for me. My muffler still looks ok, but I can't seem to separate it from the pipe that isn't any good anymore. But maybe I can cut it off and get the piece out of the muffler ok to save that part, and then have the pipe fabricated by a muffler shop? Or is there another solution to all of this?

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
The exhaust pipe is rusty/pitted throughout its entire length, and has holes in it around the flair where it clamps onto the exhaust manifold elbow and is leaking there. I don't like the exhaust leak that close to the gas tank. There doesn't appear to be enough room under the clamp to build up the holes with weld metal, and still be flexible enough to clamp it down to the manifold.

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
Several years ago I stopped by several muffler shops and even one that specialized in motorcycles. None of them had small enough dies to bend the pipe and none seemed interested in getting the smaller size.

Re: Replacement Cub Lo-Boy exhaust?
you are right Bob, I tried the same thing, most pipe benders come with 1 1/2" and bigger dies, the cub is 1 1/4" I called a few of the bender makers and they did not even offer that size at the time, I guess its time to start looking again
