Earlier IH mufflers. Left one is original '47. Probably the best as it is baffled on the sides only (like a glass pack) you can see light through it. The other two are slighly later style mufflers and more restrictive.

The right one would be correct for the 47.. I have several of the top mufflers available (all NOS)...

The mufflers that Justin has are of the later style.
IH made a couple of different styles....and that is besides the under slung and the verticle.
MIke

I have 4 NOS mufflers 2 old style and 2 new style.
Two of my tractors at Cubarama still had the original mufflers on them.
AND I am keeping them. LOL
30 + tractors including 2 French Super Cubs, French Cubs, 1963 Industrial Cub, 1955 Cub Highcrop etc...German and French built IH tractors and some bigger IH tractors. Of course I have about 20 IH trucks and an IH refridge in the Shop.

Jim, you are correct sir and I'm not surprised. Checking the TC37, the part number on the right muffler is the same as shown there: 351436R91. The other two are stamped with 351436R92. Maybe the TC37A would show this R92 number. Any idea when the part number and muffler changed? The only other maual I have is a TC37F and that manual shows part number as 356003R01.

The muffler on the left came on 563 and I assumed...well you know

This year I've looked at two other "all original" 1947 Cubs that had the same muffler that I thought was the original one (left)...

Thanks

Mike

I don't have anything to narrow the change from R91 to R92 any closer than this:
Manuals on Rudi's server:
TC37A, 5/49 shows R91.
TC37D rev 1, 1/56 shows R92.

Be aware, IH may have also used more than one supplier which could have resulted in slightly different appearance with the same part number.
