When you only have 9 horsepower you need to know the names of all of the ponies!

He says it gets 30hp ?
It’s interesting in that it has a water pump pulling raw water through which makes sense for a closed in environment in the bulge of a boat.
A regular Cub engine with a radiator would work fine in an open boat like the African Queen. Got a little Bogey in you?

The Palmer brochure at the end of the video says 24 hp @3,000 rpm. I don't know where he gets the 30 unless it has some major updates.

Re: Farmall Cub powered ferry boat
The Palmer set up looks to have no governor. The stationary c60 engines and the number cubs were 2400 I think. So this is 25% more RPM. All of HP is RPM increase.
The 184 from tractordata.com 18 hp @ 2400 RPM 18 x 1.25 ( the % RPM increase) = 22.5 hp that is most of it.
I am sure marketing people did there "engineering magic" and made is a nice even 24 hp

Re: Farmall Cub powered ferry boat
I have a 15’ aluminum boat with a 25 hp two stroke that flies at between 25-30 mph.
A Cub engine putting out 24 hp given a heavier displacement hull would still probably do about 12-14 mph. Not bad at all.

That flywheel is really thick! All that torque sure would do well for a boat.
