I am replacing my manifold and vertical exhaust pipe on my 1949 Farmall Cub. The vertical exhaust pipe that I bought from TM Tractor is a lot longer than the one that I could not get off my old manifold. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how long this pipe should be? I assume it should rise above the hole in the hood high enough to get the exhaust pine and clamp on it with a little more clearance. Also, when threading the new vertical exhaust pipe should I put "nevercease" or anything else on the threads in case I need to take it off in the future? I would think the heat negate anything I put on, but wanted to check.
Stay warm all!

Concerning the lube.
Straight out of the tube or bottle, anti-seize is made up of a high-quality grease base and lubricating solids (copper, graphite, aluminum, calcium oxide etc.), which are suspended in the grease.

The lower the joint between exhaust manifold and muffler , the more soot on hood/paint.

Re: Verticle Exhaust Pipe Length
Thanks all! My old vertical pipe measures 11" and the new one measures 17". I will use the 17" one at full length as this seems to be the correct height suggested by all.

Re: Verticle Exhaust Pipe Length
When I needed one, I went to Lowes and bought a 3' length of black iron pipe. It was threaded on both ends, so I cut it in half, and had two nice 18" exhaust pipes, each threaded on one end. If you wanted exactly 17", just cut it a17" each...I'm sure you could find something to do with a two in long piece of pipe!

Like everything else - I should have thought of that! Since I have a hard time throwing anything of value away No I am not a hoarder) I have a lot of 2' things laying around.
