I have several early mesh grills where the frame has the mesh held in place with spot welds on the frame channel
How of you replace the mesh without completely damaging the grill frame?

They make a drill bit for drilling spot welds. Not sure it would do good in this application though. It may create a big burr and still not be able to get the wire out and you would have a hole all the way through the frame.

Agree. Clip the old mesh away with a pair of dikes and grind the welds with a Dremel. Much better control than an angle grinder.
