Help with touch control

Postby Drfting1 » Fri Oct 26, 2018 3:46 pm

Ok, been using cub the past week just towing my utility trailer moving firewood, I usually take the load off hydraulics (if I have an implement on her) when I'm done and parked.. for some reason I left sickle up all week..this afternoon I went to use the touch control to lower the sickle bar....nothing, not even a sound, checked fluid level, just little low, topped it off.. Still nothing, left fill plug off.. Nothing.. Even loosened bolts connecting tube to pump, expecting it to at least leak a bit... Nothing.
Before I start breaking her down.... Any thoughts what it might be?.... Thanks

Look at this thread for suggestions made when somebody else had the same problem. I'd start by checking the orifice.

I'm guessing I should drop the pan and search for it...

You might be able to extract the nut using a flexible magnet inserted thru the drain hole.

Wish I had one of those, only have a ridgid one (which i did try) tried to use a wire to scrape along bottom of pan from drain hole, but didn't hear or feel anything. Have her all covered up in driveway now, after rain passes in few days I'll drop pan and see if it's in there ... Can't believe shes down now... I was going to use her as part of my halloween setup in front of house

there is also a special lock washer that goes between the nut and gear, the tabs break off so the nut gets loose so look for that also

Hi,
There is a special lock washer used on the pump gear nut, to keep the nut from falling off.
Bend one side of it over one flat of the nut, after tightening the nut securely.
The gear uses a key in the shaft, be sure it is there.
Be sure to put the gear on with the teeth facing ahead.

TM Tractor has a new washer, you can see what it looks like in the pics. The washer is held from turning by a tab made in it that fits into the slot for the key, I think. Be sure if you reuse the old washer that it is not damaged.

Below is a pic from TM Tractor, of the washer bent against the nut.

Make sure it still has the small tab on the inside of the washer. It is bent down at a 90 degree angle and I believe, as mentioned, fits into the key slot to prevent the nut/washer assembly from turning.
