A blue Cub?

Postby MoRedMan » Mon Aug 06, 2018 6:09 pm

We're in the process of a hood off cosmetic restoration of our early 48 Cub, and in the process of stripping paint, wire brushing, and sanding, we've uncovered a lot of blue paint.
So far, the list of blue parts consists of :
Hood
Water neck
Cylinder head
Complete breather assembly
Lifter side plate
Flywheel cover
Seems like there was more, but I can't recall which parts.
Has anyone seen this before? Was it factory, or someone in the past with some time and a can of blue paint?
Thanks all!

The last blue Cub I've seen spent the night. It was purchased at an airport in Idaho and was headed to Texas. The owner is no longer on the Forum.

I would do the stripping on the hood carefully, see if any markings might show up, might have been a special order, would be interesting

Look for a military nomenclature plate somewhere on it, it might be an Air Force Cub used to pull small aircraft or support trailers around.
This example is newer but something like this:
