'53 Cub Rescue... Year One

Postby xraycajun » Fri Jun 29, 2018 11:28 am

Its hard to believe, but I began this journey nearly a year ago. I started with a non-running tractor with severe front-end problems. I have the steering sorted out and I am currently performing an in-frame overhaul. Please enjoy the following progress pics!

Very nice. Those tie rods are laser straight. Is it going to be a full restoration, or just a mechanical one?

Thanks!

The tie rods were horrid when I brought the tractor home. I was able to straighten the pipes. I made new inserts from cold-rolled steel that I threaded and cut to size. The steering internals, gaskets, bushings, bearings, and seals were replaced as well as the front wheel bearings and tires. I had already re-built the starter, generator, carb, and distributor. I am currently performing the in-frame re-build. I plan on taking a break during the fall, and attacking the final drives and brakes next winter... then paint next year. My goal is full restoration over a total of three years.
