Hi Guys,
Got this battery box top and front from eBay just because I don't have one like it in my pile of Cub parts. Listing said it was for a '74 Cub, but my parts book doesn't show lid like this. I always thought there were only 2 battery box lids.........one with 4 rubber standoffs and the other with 2 rubber standoffs, which is what the TC-37F shows. This one has no rubber standoffs......instead it has 3 metal brackets that catch the sides of the battery top and it also has a metal tang in the front of the lid (you can see it in the bottom pic, far left), the purpose of which I'm not sure. Is this really a Cub lid from a '74? Why doesn't the parts book show it? What is the little metal tang for?
thanks,
bob

Re: Strange Battery Box Top
that is correct for the later 12 volt cubs, the battery that they made at the time was held by those clamps, that type of battery is no longer made

Re: Strange Battery Box Top
Hi tst,
Thanks for the reply. So would this be the type of box lid my '77 originally came with?
I was looking in the TC37 for the battery type cuz I couldn't find it in the operations manual....which seems strange.....but all the batteries in the TC, whether 6v or 12v are listed as "IHP R20 H". I'm guessing that's some kind of code for "whatever battery your dealer is carrying today"?
Also not understanding why the TC, dated '79, doesn't show or list this battery box lid. Maybe I'm just not reading this stupid thing right.
thanks,
bob

A cover for 12-volt Cubs is listed but not illustrated in the parts catalog. It appears to be this style lid. It is part 387 259 R91.
