During the restoration of my 48 Cub “Marie” I converted to a 12V electrical system with alternator (retained the magneto ignition), installed a panel mounted oil press gauge in the dash and added a hour meter. I removed the old gauge from the filter housing and screwed the center branch of the “T” fitting into it. One lateral branch of the “T” received the copper line kit (the tubing was shortened to suit the install) which fastened to the dash mounted oil pressure gauge. The other lateral branch received the oil pressure switch
Major components
1. 2" Black Gauge Mount Bracket, NAPA (701-2142, $7.99. Fabricated the mounting strap which was fastened under the head of a Torque tube to engine bolt.
2. 12V 24V 36V Hour Meter for marine boat Tractor Engine, 2” Round gauge, waterproof (292129080525) from mhestore2009, vod.ebay.com, $6.89
3. Dash mount Oil Pressure Gauge, 0-45 psi, Jensales, IHS1666, $38.15 + $6.86 frt.
4. Copper line Kit, O’Reilly Auto Parts, EQU 9901, $13.49
5. Oil pressure switch (normally open). Salvaged from a mercury inboard boat engine.
. The power for the hour meter started on the Bat terminal of the lighting switch which was fuse protected and ran along the copper oil pressure tubing to one side of the oil pressure switch. The other side of the switch grounded on the starter switch cover screw. Both gauges work great.
