Did a little plowing today

Postby MiCarl » Sat May 19, 2018 7:42 pm

The club I belong to had a plow day today. First chance I've had to plow with the cub. The headlight came loose

As one of the other members said: "It plows real nice, when it runs." It's got a miss under heavy load when hot and the engine won't restart when it's been worked hard without a LONG pull from another tractor. Based on how my eyes watered when the breeze brought the exhaust past me I think it's running rich. Need to figure out what's going on with the carburetor.

Thanks for posting the video...it's nice to see some dirt being turned.

Have to admit... I'm a little jealous!

Had a look in the carburetor today. Turns out the float was set 1/2" too high. A little research here shows the TSC carburetor kit has M instructions and the M has a float height of 1 15/16 vs 1 13/32 for the Cub. I suspect a previous owner put a TSC kit in it......

I think it was running lean and got too hot (I noticed some coolant cooked out). Worked it as hard as I can here around the house and restarts are fine. Need another plow day to be sure.
