Hydraulic capabilities

Postby Brodalick » Mon Apr 23, 2018 11:50 am

My hydraulics were very weak and very jerky. I rebuilt the hydraulic control box and filled it with fluid as per the manual. My dad weights approx. 220 pounds and the rear draw bar (fixed to the rear hydraulics) will not pick him up. If I raise the hydraulics and then he stands on it, it will support him and not leak down, buy will not pick him up. It also has a hard time with a disk. Is this possibly a weak pump? I have no leaks since I rebuilt the control box.

It should easily lift 200 pounds at the draw bar. It could be a weak pump but I suspect there's still air in the system and of course be sure the TC block is full with the rock shaft to the rear position. It's supposed to lift 500 pounds at the back of the tractor and produce 1200 to 1500 psi before it bypasses.

Edit: 500 pounds is a big ask for the Cub. 300 pounds plus would be closer to the limit depending on the condition of the whole system.

The squeaky wheel may get the grease but it's usually the first to be replaced!

Go to the quick links at the top left corner of the page and to the manuals. Select .pdf manuals, then at the bottom is a Blue Ribbon Manuals section. In that one is one for the Touch control hydraulic system.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Yeah I read somewhere about the 300 pounds. Never thought of air in the system. Will try to bleed air out and see if my pressure gets higher.
