Still Crazy...after all these CUBS!

Postby Indy4570 » Fri Mar 30, 2018 11:15 pm

ok so I have located a early 60s red loboy, maybe 50 hours on a rebuilt engine. but even though this is what I want, (with the exception of the skinny turf tires) I have no attachments for a loboy. The price is less than the cost to rebuild a C60 engine. I missed a 55 loboy from the same guy. grrrr, that was my perfect dream cub to go with my 55 standard cub. Spotted a 185 that ran when parked, yeah I know, stored inside with mower for $500! will be calling on that in the AM. and, will be attending an auction with a early 60s red standard cub with woods 42/turfs, in The AM. YES, I am crazy! But i spent the day peddling a ton of old costume jewelry and some gemstones and now I have put some greenbacks back in the cub fund to procure MORE CUBS. Hey, I have a loooonnnngggggggg way to go before I am even close to Barnyard!! :worthy:

Good luck with your possibilities there, still hoping you can bring bugeye back to life... Love the auctions, problem by me, any type farm equipment goes top dollar... Everything else almost nothing, an auction not too far from me in 2 weeks has a pink cub listed.. Curious to see what that goes for

Wish I had the spare cash.... Probably score that one for a good price and restore back to original

Hi,
The red 1955 LoBoy in your pic above has the long air cleaner pipe, above the hood. They had the short air cleaner pipe, with the under axle exhaust system. Someone has probably changed something.

Below is a page from the 1957 LoBoy owner's manual, you can see the pipe there, it is probably like the pipe on your 1955 Cub.

yup its taller, any reason a fella could not simply cut it off? should it have different tie rod set up being a 55 loboy? it has some faults
some I didn't know about. has some goop on the hydraulic line behind the pump, is leaking there, leaks at the bottom of the TC as well
pops out of reverse, will see if it does here on level ground. I feel some grumbling backing up sharp turning. no clue whats wrong with it, got an extra tranny with it. the gril was very nasty, could not see the level of pitting in the pic. I left that painted up grill there and brought a better one that needs painted. swapped out the seats so i got a deluxe as well/, needs tires all the way around
saw some smoke from behind the dash when fiddling with the lights, all light work brights and dims. needs a muffler, these pipes were made up for the guy. it followed me home. I dont know whats correct for a lowboy, McCormick badge on a lowboy? has a new number tag, I got the original with it, this is the only non welded bolster tractor i own :P

The tie rods are correct for an early Loboy, they were same as an F Cub. They later changed to one on top/one on bottom.
Also, should be "International Cub", no McCormick, so there will be 2 unused holes w/o an emblem on each side of the hood.

Congrats,
David
