Re: Bottom end rod caps
You can mark them with a punch, be sure they all go back in the way they came out. You can use a center punch and mark the first one with one punch, 2nd with 2 punches etc. You can punch your main caps and block beside each other so they match. Same way with rod caps. TAKE PICTURES BEFORE TAKING IT APART THOUGH!!!

That's the way I found them. There might be some exceptions but I've not heard about it (Once I had to replace the #1 domed piston/rod assy and the only one I could find was stamped #3. I'll bet the guy who takes it apart the next time will wonder how that happened!)

I might ad that this statement applies to ANY project you are tackling, unless you are an expert. With digital, there's no excuse for not taking more pictures than you think you need. You can always hit DELETE, when you are done. Or better yet, post a HOW TO with your photos, so others can benefit from your hard work!

Re: Bottom end rod caps
Hi,
Below is the Cub service manual. The engine is in section 1. I would read it before working on the engine.
http://www.farmallcub.info/galleries/ci ... actors.asp
The connecting rods and caps are usually stamped on the side with numbers for the cylinder they belong in. The numbers have to face toward the camshaft side of the engine, like was said above.

Re: Bottom end rod caps
I used a piece of cardboard and traced the oil pan, marked the "Front" and then labeled each cylinder.
Stick the bolts through the cardboard to keep track of where they came from. The rod caps are notched on one side so you can line them back up.
