Great info, thanks!

My driveway sort of slopes down a bit from the road going to the garage, so I pushed the snow out away from the garage up to the road. Once I got to the road I pushed it to each side. Seemed to work well.

I had the blade facing forward, so I can see how having it angled off to the side would be nice as you could just push the snow off to each side of the driveway going back and forth. I'm totally new at all this, so I'll have to do it a few times to get a good routine down. We typically don't get a ton of snow here though, so I may only get to plow a few more times if that before spring.

Unless you want more snow to plow :)

The deeper the snow the more you want to be careful about angling the blade. At some point of snow depth and angle, the force starts to push to tractor sideways. On very deep stuff I use the blade straight and then change it at the end to clean up

The fun goes away as you get wet and cold and something breaks and or you get stuck! but when those things do not happen if is a great deal of fun.

I have plowed snow in jeeps and pickups but a Cub or 140 with chains is my favorite way to plow

I plowed a good bit with a pick-up. Warm and cozy! Then we stopped getting snow! We would get 1/2”, not enough to mess with except the funeral home would want their lot cleaned. I would have to go out, mount the plow on the truck for fifteen minute job. I sold the truck!

I don't have a huge area to plow. Our driveway is somewhat long from the road to the garage and then there's a small pull off to the side. In the past when we got just a little snow, I didn't even bother doing anything, just drove over it with the truck haha! But it's just a fun excuse to use the tractor.

Going forward I'll change to 10W-30 oil for winter use. For now I'll likely just leave the oil that's in there. If I need to use it, I'll drain the oil out into a container and bring it inside for a while to warm it up, then dump it back in. That should be good enough to start it for this winter.

It looks like it's going to warm up next week, highs in the mid 40's and lows in the low 30's, so all this snow will melt. We might get a couple more snow storms, we'll see. I'll be glad when it warms up as I'll be able to get a little work done in the garage on a few things without freezing to death out there haha! I don't mind working in the garage when it's 45-50 degrees in there, but when it's 15-20 degrees no thanks!

Got my Cub out again the other day, my second time of plowing snow ever. Again, it was a blast!

I think I need to adjust the angle of the blade. Right now it's just straight on. I think I may try angling it off to the right so I can push snow off to the side of the driveway.

It ran great and got the job done again! :)

Been plowing snow with the the same cub for 50 yrs. My blade is always angled to the far right. Blade set in the middle holes as far as tip forward/back. Never a problem. I find that my handlift works well, if l keep the thumb button depressed, l can instantly adjust height if need be. I start down the center and work my way to the edges. I then push a half to a full blade width beyond the drive edge to make room for the next snow.
If l have real deep snow 8-10" or more l just go over it twice, working my way down.
One other tip, ALWAYS keep your food covering the clutch. Just in case you hit something hidden under that snow.

As cold and nasty as it can be here in Mi, l actually still enjoy the seat time.
Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over. :?:

I’ll try angling the blade next time I plow.

Looks like it might be a while. The weather is warming up next week, all this snow we got is going to melt now.
