Shipping Parts Question

I have it repackaged and it measures 22”X19”X8”. That’s the best I can do. Guessing OH to KS is about $24 for the cheapest price based on the price that came up yesterday before they measured the box.

The price I see on USPS website is $31.00 for a box that size. Of course weight natters as well.

Thanks. I’ll just ask the buyer what he’s willing pay. It’s irregular size so maybe the clerk does a quick measure and determines it’s close enough to 21.5.

I shipped some truck parts. A tailgate band off a square body and some bed rails. I know the band went to California believe and I think ups was the cheapest. And I believe the same thing for the rails, although bi don't remember where they went. I made a box for both I believe out of multiple boxes and cutting them down.

Danny was right. Federal Express cost $24.76. This is their cheapest rate and is for 3 day delivery.

So, if you are shipping anything bulky you might check out FedEx before going to the Post Office. It is possible that my packaging, now greatly reduced in size, would have been about the same price at USPS but it was 1/2” over their size limit if they measured exactly.

I said the same thing! I sent a 5 ft box across country for like $90 FedEx and PO wanted something crazy. Almost double that. USPS doesn't really want much to do with big packages. You can see it in their price structure. It kind of messes their delivery model up, with in the city they walk alot and in the country they just stop at the box on the street, not geared for lots of door deliveries

That makes sense. Their little delivery trucks would get filled up fast with packages the size I originally had. When I got the $60 price quote at the Post Office, the counter clerk told me UPS would cost me double the $60 price. She didn’t mention FedEx but they probably aren’t going to send you to a competitor. I doubt UPS would have been double but in my limited experience they are more expensive than USPS.

Usually the bigger stuff UPS and Fed Ex are cheaper. Sometimes I think I found FedEx cheaper.
