CaseIH Hy-Tran is the preferred fluid. BUT, any MS1207 or MS1209 compliant fluid will be suitable. NAPA, TSC and many others all carry one.

Good morning all, ran into a setback assembling my touch control unit. The spring and plastic check valve, part numbers 350 668 R1 and 354 057 R2 are unserviceable and wondered if anyone could recommend a source for those parts? thanks Bill.

New replacements seem to be fairly easy to find. Looks like the spring part number is now 13786AA.

Thank you Jim, are you referring to Case IH new parts?...
Also does anyone see a reason why I shouldn't replace the hy-piston with the older style piston with the tapered yoke, my yoke is badly worn and I have an older style piston and yoke in great shape, any thoughts on this?

I have been following this thread as I am thinking of rebuilding my lift control. It is a 1952 . I do not see any obvious signs of leaking but I do know the LC does not work (the guy I bought it from told me). I took off the hood and I see this "rag" stuffed down in the opening on top side of LC. I just thought I would chime in for advice! This rag is so tight I cannot pull it out with my fingers! I am about to get a pair of pliers to yank on it! But again I thought (being new to this) I would ask for your guys thoughts! Is this rag a sign that I should rebuild the LC? The LC # 354383R3

I was going to post a picture but am working on figuring that out!

Is the rag on the SIDE toward the top (if yes, which side, left or right), or on the actual TOP of the Touch Control block?
The only opening I can think of on the top is the Welch ("expansion") plug. This could have been leaking.

If the rag was on the left side toward the top, it might be in the filler plug hole. We need more info, and you might start a separate thread...

OK, Thanks Dale - It is the opening on the top of the touch control. As if you are looking straight down. I never saw it until I took off the hood. The opening is not a circle but a half circle with a flat side (like a capital D). The flat side is towards the driver. But it is on the top side. I don't know if I am allowed to post a link (??) but I will try this:

OK, Thanks Dale - It is the opening on the top of the touch control. As if you are looking straight down. I never saw it until I took off the hood. The opening is not a circle but a half circle with a flat side (like a capital D). The flat side is towards the driver. But it is on the top side. Take the rag out, the "D" shaped hole just is the way they made the casting. This D shaped hole is naturally open and not plugged in normal operation

After you get the rag out, you can see how the D shaped opening is visible from the front!

Perhaps what you're seeing is the protective leather boot.

Hi,
LyleDoe, the leather boot is on the part of the piston that sticks out of the unit. It is supposed to be there, if it is there.

The Touch Control has to have fluid to work, if the fluid is low, it won't work.
I would check the fluid level and see if it has fluid.

The Cub operator's manual says to not run the engine if the fluid in the Touch Control is low, the pump has to have fluid for lubrication. It can damage the pump running the engine with low fluid.

My first post on this page has info about checking and changing the Touch Control fluid.
If it doesn't work, I would put in fluid and see if it works.
The arms need to be in the rear or down position to check the exact fluid level, which should be up to the filler plug hole.
