Sediment bowl

Postby Leewebb7 » Wed Mar 27, 2024 2:13 pm

While waiting on my starter rebuild kit I'm tinkering with something else...the sediment bowl. Is this the correct size?? It seems really tiny.

It fits in the assembly it just seems small. It was on there so it had to work I guess.. I just thought it looked really small.

Hi,
Below are pictures from TM Tractor Parts of a Cub gas strainer.
Some of them were made with no brass fitting at the outlet, the fitting on the tube screwed directly into the strainer.

there is also a filter screen above the cork seal at the top. People miss that http://www.tmtractor.com/new/fl/235fp.htm

And speaking of those screens...
http://www.tmtractor.com/new/fl/235fp.htm
... I have found that they often cause leaking if not trimmed a bit on the outside diameter, allowing the gasket some surface area in the upper casting to seal. It's just a small amount, but sure worked for me on a few sediment bowl assemblies I worked on.

From an earlier post, you can see the amount of trimming I did (with regular scissors, a tiny bit at a time!):
