Picked up another implement for the cub.. plow setup

Postby Drfting1 » Mon Jan 22, 2018 10:09 am

Picked up another implement for her to restore... Seems to be all there and in good shape, needs the one eyebolt replaced that I can see, just have a question on the end of the blade, two loose bolts, is there an extension that is supposed to go there?

Yep, that's where the moldboard extension goes. It is optional. Is that a 193 plow or 1/2 of a 189 two-way plow? Depth control looks like it's from a 189.

That is half of a 189.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Jim and Barnyard are correct, the handle bracket going all the way across is one give away. Here's a complete 189 for sale for viewing purposes. viewtopic.php?f=223&t=99375

Thanks for the heads up on type, I wasn't sure, would it matter to run just one on a double depth control? still learning here

You can use it with what you have. I would contact the seller and see if he still has the other plow and the latching system. More photos here http://www.tmtractor.com/tm-tractor/gim ... ow_001.htm

Elaborating on my own question, the right half of the 189 is the same as a 193 http://www.farmallcub.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=31152.

You can certainly use it with the parts you have. The double depth control supports the drawbar on both sides while the 193's single depth control only supports on the side where the plow is attached.

Thank you for schooling me a bit on this, unfortunately this is all he had for plow parts, now I just need to start restoring these implements I'm collecting, I still have the sickle mowers and rear cultivators I haven't touched yet..
