49 cub generator belt size

What's the proper belt length for a 49 cub? When I looked closely the belt says troy bilt on it. I measure it at 22-7/8 overall length. I believe it's too long?

Hi,
Here is a new one at TM Tractor, it says it's the Case IH belt.
It shows in the listing the serial numbers it is supposed to fit. :)

Hood off. 2/3" or 1/2" diameter rope, set generator in center position. Use rope to measure the length of the needed belt.

I'ts either a 21" or 22 " belt, depending on generator pulley size.

Go to NAPA and give them the IH part number. They can cross reference it.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Thanks guys. I didn't know if a parts store would have one that short. My generator hits the side of the hood with this belt so it needs to get shorter. One of the only things stopping me from finally finishing!

Auto parts store will have the belt, which ever size you need. Most of the time the belt will be in stock. If not, next day in store.

The answer to your question is .5 X 21 inches. The NAPA part number is NBH 4L210W.
