Mower deck questions
I know this question has been answered before. I can't seem to find the answers, but I am looking to add a mower to my 1949 cub. Im just not sure how well it will work with the tractor not having any hydraulics on it. I was looking to get a woods 59 deck, im not sure if i need the L deck or the standard 59 deck. And how hard is it find the rear pully drive from the PTO shaft, and the height controls? Hoping to buy all of it with my tax money, so I have some time to shop around and buy it piece by piece too. Thanks guys

Re: Mower deck questions
Hand lift has an adjustable spring to balance out the weight and make it a little easier to lift, remember to loosen the spring if you take the mower off. It depends on what the L you mean either L as in lo-boy or L as in left hand rotation? While the left hand rotation can be made to work it is easier to understand the manuals without having to mentally make adjustments to belt routing and possibly needing a different length belt. Best bet is to find a complete working unit with pulley and all the brackets. You can easily spend more for the brackets and misc. parts than you will for a bargain deck missing pieces.

Re: Mower deck questions
My '48 is a hand lift, and I run a woods 59 c3 with no problem.
Are you looking at a new or used mower? If new, they come with a pully for the PTO.

Why is there never enough time to do the job right, but always enough time to do it over.

Re: Mower deck questions
I'm looking for either used or new. I don't mind putting in some work on a used mower. I haven't been able to find a new woods 59 yet. I was going to hit up a few of the farm equipment auction places near me to find a mower deck and then try and get the brackets and pulleys later. I doubt I will be able to find a full set up at a auction place though.

Place an ad in "The Vine", want ad/for sale section on this site, for a complete finish mower with hand lift.
