I have a lowboy that the throttle will not stay in a high power-throttle setting. It wants to jump back to the Idle position. I thought it was the "sector plate notches" and the throttle lever were worn and replaced both it still wants to jump back to idle.

Re: Lowboy throttle/governor problem
Hi,
I think I have seen where the 2 new parts didn't mesh together really good, the lever didn't fit into the notches enough, if that is what you have, you might need to rework the lever slightly, take it off and heat it up at the bent out place that fits into the notches, and bend that place out farther, so it goes deeper into the notches, my opinion.
A small triangular file can be used to deepen the notches, if needed. My opinion.
There is supposed to be a spring on the shaft to hold the lever against the notches, if it is there, it could be weak. Here is a listing at TM Tractor for a new one, you can look at.

Re: Lowboy throttle/governor problem
Someone posted a tip for this repair to use a Dremel type tool to cut the notches a bit deeper. Seems like it can be done without any disassembly and is a quick repair. I just can't find the post but I seem to remember Bill Hudson's name with it.

Re: Lowboy throttle/governor problem
I use a small triangular file to clean up the notches.

You cant always use the full amount of notches...if you are forcing it at the end, or the governor needs some attention (lube pivot points),or the plate on top the engine that helps hold the rod straight is missing can all contribute to it not working properly.
