ENFIELD, Maine — An 84-year-old farmer was killed Sunday when he was crushed between a fallen tree and the steering column of his tractor after it backed into woods on his land on Dodlin Road, Maine State Police said Monday.

The body of Cassius Fall was found by a relative about an hour after the accident occurred at about 8 a.m., state police Trooper Matt Grant said.

“We don’t know if the tractor stalled or if his foot slipped off [the] clutch. We’re not sure why it happened,” Grant said Monday. “But there is nothing to suggest that it’s anything other than a tragic farming accident.”
